A devastating year concludes with hope on the horizon.

It’s now been a year
that we’ve lived with this virus.
Each day, we still hear
of exploits that inspire us.

But then there are some
who steadfastly remain
in denial – they’re numb;
from the truth they abstain.

Far too many have died;
way beyond estimations –
their futures denied
across all the world’s nations.

Here’s hoping this rough year
is soon left behind –
since we’ve shed quite enough tears
for all humankind.
