A rare olfactory experience in San Francisco is knocking ’em dead.
Most flowers have a lovely scent;
of sweet things, they are redolent.
But wouldn’t you be mortified
by buds that smell like something died?
And yet that is one bloom’s allure,
emitting quite a stench, for sure.
Incredibly, some folks would pay more
just so they can call out, “C’est mort!”
It’s named for what some call a stiff:
a corpse flower. Purchase one? As if…
A whiff of corpse would sure repel one –
hope to never, ever smell one.
