Fowl Play

A touch of whimsy mysteriously appeared off the coast of Maine.

When you were just a toddler,
in your bath – if you were lucky –
you would have some toys to play with
and, of course, a rubber ducky.

But imagine your amazement
if that toy someone created
was the same height as your dwelling
once entirely inflated.

Spotted floating in a harbor
off the coast of Belfast, Maine, there
was a sight that caused delight such
that the folks could not constrain their.

Where’d the giant ducky come from,
with the word “JOY” stenciled on it?
No one knows. But it inspired this
verse – that isn’t quite a sonnet.

“Fowl Play” — read by the author.
