Murmur Most Fowl

A recently unearthed recording provides an amazing insight into bird behavior.

Although thought to be quite rare, it’s
now known ducks can act like parrots;
some can mimic human speaking.
(Which kind can? For sure: not Peking.)

Ducks are quackers, as a rule,
but one once swore, “You bloody fool!”
A not-too-drastic imprecation;
still – remarkable oration.

This epiphany’s according
to a decades-old recording.
Swearing ducks; comme c’est curieux.
Let’s hope he never said, “F— you!”
