Creepy Sleepytime

“Creepy Sleepytime” — read by the author.

A dip in the jet stream may cause an astonishing phenomenon in Florida.

Cold temps can be taxing to flora and fauna –
particularly, if you are an iguana.
Although they’re cold-blooded, it’s known that a freeze
can cause tropical lizards to fall out of trees.

It isn’t a spectacle you’d expect daily
while walking in Florida, as something scaly
cascades from a branch; an unusual burden for
what is an otherwise settled-in herbivore.

Florida’s known for the warmth of its sunshine,
and yet this has happened before, more than one time.
A strange quirk of nature for someone to witness –
if I saw this happening, I’d be scared shitless.
