Ignorance Is This

When the looting starts, the shooting starts – that’s just a simple fact.
I find rioting disquieting; so I’ll counterattack
And send in military (kinda scary) – I’ll assume control.
Offer calm, like from a psalm? You all know that’s not how I roll.

I don’t offer hugs to THUGS; I see no reason to embrace them.
But let’s not tease neo-Nazis: good on both sides; don’t disgrace them.
Wonder why I undermine the mayor, call him very weak?
He’s a Democrat; no use for that: division as technique.

We all saw what that one law enforcement officer has done:
He and three more were extreme – and now their city’s overrun.
Issue threats? I’ve no regrets, since I believe in law and order.
(Not for Whitmer; she’s a shit – deserves the anger focused toward her.)

I deserved praise for the phrase I used; instead, the press has slammed me.
Who expects I knew the context – from the 60s, in Miami?
Their police chief caused some deep grief, didn’t mind police brutality.
I did not know that man’s motto, since I’m distanced from reality.

Focus more on what provokes us, and ignore what might unite us.
Disembark from all that’s dark, and aim attention at the whiteness.
I already was unsteady, overwhelmed – then one more scandal hit.
Race relations, ministrations; it’s become clear: I can’t handle it.

    1. Thanks for your comment, Lee. I am troubled by so, so much under this administration but have tried to remain resilient. This latest situation, however, has all but broken my spirit. November is too long to wait.
